Internet Usage Policy

Purpose

To ensure a safe and secure online environment for students, preventing access to inappropriate content while using school systems or personal devices.

Scope

This policy applies to students, teachers, and staff members who use the internet in school or students’ access to social media outside the school with mal intention.

Definitions

Inappropriate content: Includes items that are illegal, defamatory, violent, hateful, or harmful.

Students: Refers to scholars whose parents/guardians are aware of their internet usage and are students of the school.

Policy Statement

The school is committed to providing a safe and secure environment where regulated internet access is available with the sole purpose to further educational goals and objectives.

Responsibilities

  1. Education: Educate students about online safety, digital citizenship, and the risks associated with accessing inappropriate content.
  2. Software Implementation: Implement software to block access to inappropriate content.
  3. Monitoring: Monitor internet usage to detect and prevent access to inappropriate content.
  4. Disciplinary Actions: Take strict disciplinary actions against disruptive conduct and hold students accountable for their online actions and behavior.
  5. Cyber Cell: Contact the Cyber Cell to address online activities that are obscene, harmful, hateful, or violent.

Prohibited Activities

  1. Accessing or attempting to access inappropriate content.
  2. Bypassing filtering software or security measures.
  3. Sharing or distributing inappropriate content with others or media.
  4. Engaging in online activities that are threatening or disrespectful.

Consequences of Misuse

Showing disregard for this policy will not be tolerated. Students who violate this policy will face consequences, including:

  1. Warning/meeting with parents/guardian.
  2. Detention or suspension.
  3. Expulsion and reporting to the Cyber Cell.

Reporting Incidents

Students, teachers, and staff members are encouraged to report any incidents of inappropriate content or online misconduct to the school administration.
